IPL Photofacial for Florida Sun Damage: What to Expect

Years of Florida sunshine show up as brown spots, redness and uneven tone. An IPL photofacial treats those concerns with pulses of light and very little downtime. It is one of our most requested treatments for patients who want a clearer, brighter look.

How IPL works

IPL stands for intense pulsed light. The device sends short pulses of light into the skin. Pigment and tiny blood vessels absorb that light, break down and gradually clear away. The warmth also wakes up collagen, so skin looks a little firmer too.

Our sun damage reset series

Our sun damage reset protocol is a series of treatments designed to reverse the visible effects of sun exposure and slow future damage. Many patients use it as an annual reset.

What IPL can improve

  • Freckles and sun spots

  • Redness and visible capillaries

  • Uneven skin tone

  • Flushing related to rosacea

  • Early signs of sun aging

What it feels like

Most patients compare each pulse to a quick rubber band snap. Cooling is built into the handpiece, and a session takes about 20 to 30 minutes.

Downtime and aftercare

You can go back to work the same day. Dark spots may look darker for a few days and then flake away within one to two weeks. Skip tanning and wear SPF 30 or higher every day.

Why timing matters in Florida

IPL works best when your skin is not freshly tanned, so fall and winter are ideal. Starting in October means your series wraps up well before beach season.

Sessions and results

Most patients do three to five sessions about four weeks apart, then maintain once or twice a year.

Ready to fade your sun damage? Book an IPL consult and we will outline a plan that fits your calendar.
