Microneedling is one of the best ways to soften acne scars, refine pores and boost collagen without surgery. The most common question we hear before booking is how long the redness lasts. Here is the honest day by day timeline for our RF microneedling treatments.
Before your appointment
Pause retinoids and exfoliating acids a few days ahead, avoid sun exposure and arrive with a clean face. If you are prone to cold sores, tell your provider so we can plan preventive care.
Your recovery timeline
Day of treatment: Skin looks pink and feels warm, like a mild sunburn. We apply a calming serum and mask before you leave.
Day 1: Redness peaks and skin may feel tight. Moisturize often and keep your hands away from your face.
Days 2 and 3: Pink fades to a light flush. Skin can feel dry or slightly rough, which is normal.
Days 4 and 5: Light flaking appears. Resist picking and let it shed on its own.
Day 7: Most patients look and feel back to normal and can wear makeup comfortably.
Weeks 2 to 4: Collagen is building and texture begins to look smoother.
How to heal faster
Use only the gentle cleanser and moisturizer we recommend
Apply mineral SPF every morning and reapply outdoors
Skip workouts, saunas and hot showers for 48 hours
Sleep on a clean pillowcase and go without makeup for the first day
When to call us
Call right away if swelling gets worse after day three, pain is not easing or you notice any sign of infection. Our team is available to guide you through your recovery.
How many sessions do you need?
Most patients see the best results after three sessions spaced four to six weeks apart. Scars and texture take time, so patience pays off.
Want a recovery plan that fits your calendar? Book a microneedling consult and we will schedule your sessions around your events.
